Chester County Events: June 1–4

The Strawberry Festival at Brandywine Hospital 

The Strawberry Festival has become one of the most anticipated, family events in our area. This year marks the 45th Annual Strawberry Festival and organizer promise it will be the best ever!

Admission is free and there is excitement for kids of all ages. Strawberryland allows small kids to bounce and play all day long with the purchase of a very affordable wristband!

Older kids (or the kids-at-heart) can buy tickets for the dozens of rides located on the Majestic Midway. Throughout the festival grounds, visitors can shop vendors and crafts, or be entertained by Musicians, Magicians and Jugglers. But the main attraction is the vast array of festival food- including the famous strawberry shortcake, a festival tradition not to be missed!!!! 

If you can make it on Friday, June 2nd- don’t miss the SPECTACULAR FIREWORKS EXTRAVAGANZA. (The rain date is Saturday, June 3rd when the main stage light up again with nonstop music provided by some of the area’s most popular bands.)

Victory Block Party & Food Truck Festival

You know your mouth is watering already. This Sunday Victory Brewing Company will host their second Food Truck Festival at Kennett Square on June 4th from 12pm – 5pm.

Longwood Performing Arts will be putting on a performance, Bavarian Motor Sport will be hosting a car show, and there will be vendors! Sample some of the best cuisine Kennett Square has to offer. Hood’s BBQ, Cinnamini Donut, and Kona Ice are just a few of the delicious dishes that await your tastebuds.

Kennett Square’s First Friday Expanded Art Stroll

The First Friday summer series in Kennett Square is a surefire way to get up close and personal with the eclectic artists and restaurants that make this town SO alluring. Galleries pour out onto the sidewalks. Local eateries craft special menus.

Boutiques offer special discounts and pricing. In short, every First Friday is ah-mazing. But June… June’s kind of a big deal (or even BIGGER deal). On June 2nd, Kennett Arts is putting together a special expanded First Friday Art Stroll with art work throughout the downtown shops. It all starts with a 6pm dedication of a new public art piece in the Genesis HealthCare walkway.

Participating venues will be designated with balloons. Kennett Arts runs First Friday events all summer, so if you miss June- or have so much fun you wanna rinse and repeat, definitely check out the offerings for July and August.

New Heights: The Longwood Garden Fountains Return! 

 This is the comeback of the summer! After undergoing a 2 year $90-million restoration, the majestic Main Garden Fountains are back as part of Longwood Gardens’ Summer of Spectacle. To showcase its splendor, Longwood Gardens has programming scheduled over the next few months, including fireworks, concerts, movie screenings and more.

Throughout the season, guests can attend one of multiple fountain performances taking place each day. Show times are 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, with additional half-hour evening shows at 7 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. Timed admission tickets are required to attend

Timed admission tickets to Longwood Gardens — which include access to the fountain shows — are $23 for adults, $20 for seniors (ages 62 years and up), $12 for students and free for ages 4 and under. It’s strongly recommended to purchase tickets in advance.

The Devon Horse Show & Country Fair 

Each year in May, thousands of volunteers come together to staff the Devon Country Fair. The event is part horse show, part carnival and 100% summer fun! And as a bonus- all the proceeds benefit Bryn Mawr Hospital!

The Devon Horse Show has become one of the largest volunteer-run fundraising efforts in the country. Whether you’re enjoying a tasty treat, a spin on the Ferris wheel or buying a raffle ticket you can feel doubly good knowing that you are contributing to a longstanding tradition of supporting Bryn Mawr Hospital.

Super Sunday in West Chester

Super Sunday is West Chester’s first street festival of the year- and its packed with entertainment and delicious food. This family event has children’s crafts, games and a children’s fun zone featuring a variety of moon bounces and zip lining.

For the adults, there are four blocks of local food vendors, information booths, local artisan booths, and live bands at two locations. Parking in all Borough of West Chester garages is $5.00 for all day. NO PETS ALLOWED IN EVENT GROUNDS.

Twistback Art Music & Wine Festival 

Be sure to bring the whole family to experience the magic of Twistback. This year marks the 2nd Annual Art, Wine & Music Festival. Organizers promise plenty of food, music and scores of local vendors and artisans on hand to display their craft.  Come and enjoy an event like no other located in beautiful rich farmland and woods of Chester County PA.

Morgantown Carnival

 Come out for some great local fun at the 2nd Annual Morgantown Carnival. Amazing rides for all ages, free entertainment each night, and an outstanding fireworks display on Friday night (with a rain date of Saturday).

For the ultimate value pick up a Mega Pass wristband, and for $50 the bearer will have unlimited rides all week long. The festivities run from 6pm to 10pm (2 to 4pm on Saturday). Food trucks, cotton candy and plenty of entertainment… The Morgantown Carnival offers an authentic summer experience. Don’t miss out!

9th Annual Upper Uwchlan Block Party

Upper Uwchlan Township’s 9th Annual Block Party will be held June 17, 2017, 6:00 PM – Dusk on Route 100 in the Village of Eagle (between Byers Road & Park Road/Station Boulevard).

Highlights of the block party include live music, caricaturists, face painting, a petting zoo, pony rides, moon bounces and slides, local vendors — businesses, community groups, crafters — a wide variety of food vendors, and Fireworks at Dusk!

Saint Joseph Community Festival

After a 50 year absence, Downingtown’s Saint Joseph’s Festival has returned! Run by Saint Joseph Parish of Downingtown, their mission is to bring the Chester County community together- through food, fair rides, fireworks and fun! Planning started back in October, and the Festival Committee can’t wait to share the finished product for 2017!

Just like years past, attendees can order wristbands ahead of time from Houghton Enterprises. Fairgoers will also be able to purchase wristbands each night at the festival or purchase individual tickets. The festival features an air-conditioned Bingo Hall. So why not let the kids play on the rides while you win cash! Food service available table side. Guaranteed fun for all ages!
